| U.N. peacekeepers in south Lebanon protested with Israel against air violations as 12 Israeli warplanes entered Lebanese airspace.
UNIFIL spokesman Alexander Ivanco said Friday the force's command recorded over the past week several violations by the Israeli air force and protested to the Israeli army, asking it to stop the breaches.
He said UNIFIL's command informs the U.N. headquarters of all violations on the Blue Line that separates Lebanon and Israel, which are later referred to the Security Council on a daily basis.
A Lebanese army statement said 12 Israeli planes entered Lebanese air space Friday flying over several regions in south, north and east Lebanon.
Lebanese Army commander Gen. Michel Sleiman expressed hope earlier Friday that his troops will be able to assume security in south Lebanon without international help soon.
