| The conflict between Israel and Hizbollah has garnered enough respect for the latter that some believe the relationship between militant group and UNIFIL should be closely watched. As a fragile cease-fire holds in Lebanon, the predominant issues confounding peace are Hizbollah’s increased prestige and its relationship with the newly reconstituted UNIFIL. The current conflict has strengthened the militant group's role as a quasi-state actor, its integration into Lebanese society, and its increasing popularity in the greater Middle East.
